The island of beautiful waters
Overview
An archipelago of 7 islands — Grande Terre, Basse Terre, Marie-Galante, Les Saintes, La Désirade and Petite Terre — Guadeloupe stands out as an idyllic destination to recharge and immerse yourself in lush nature. Expect an intense island-hopping journey: nautical excursions, waterfall hikes and wellness activities.
The islands to visit in Guadeloupe:
Located to the east of the archipelago, Grande Terre is often described as the more touristy side of Guadeloupe. It is known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise lagoons and water sports.
Located to the west, Basse Terre is known for its mountainous landscapes and lush vegetation. It is the wilder side of the main island, with numerous waterfalls, hiking trails and black sand beaches.
Nicknamed "La Galette" for its flat shape, Marie-Galante is famous for having Guadeloupe's most beautiful beaches, many rum distilleries and a wonderfully calm, restful atmosphere.
Les Saintes, made up of two main islands, Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas, are unmissable in Guadeloupe. They are known for their charming fishing village and picturesque scenery.
La Désirade is a small peaceful island with a rustic charm. It is the ideal destination for those looking to escape the crowds and rediscover an authentic Guadeloupe, far from mass tourism.
Petite Terre is a magnificent nature reserve where you can swim with turtles, fish and lemon sharks, and admire the iguanas for a day. A true little natural paradise.
